Assessing the quality of information

When we first began our project we knew we were interested in doing something with mental health. Each of us have our own connection with mental health which allowed us to create an interesting and collaborative project. On the very first day of the assignment we stumbled upon the cruelty individuals with Schizophrenia have to endure in Indonesia. We were shocked at the treatment and lack of knowledge about schizophrenia and mental health there is in Indonesia. We then decided as a group that we wanted to learn more as well as help gain awareness for this issue.

We began researching Schizophrenia, Indonesia, and Schizophrenia in Indonesia. Our main goal was to absorb as much information as we could in order to give this issue the attention it desperately needs. We watched informative videos, listened to podcasts, and read articles. We used all of these mediums because we thought that this would allow us to understand the issue and then be able to properly educate our users.

Integrating our research

Once we believed that we had a good base to start our project we began integrating our research. We wanted our website to be both informative and interactive. On the majority of our pages we incorporated articles, pictures, videos, or maps to help our users become experts on this topic. On some of our aspect pages we added links to informative articles to help users learn more about Indonesia as well as schizophrenia. We incorporated these sources because we think it is important to inform people and give them other resources to help them continue their learning.

We believe that it is important to have visuals because it allows the user to receive the information in different ways. We want our material to be eye catching and interesting. We think that with the help of visual aids we can capture the user’s attention and hopefully keep it for longer. The integration of videos was also key to the cohesiveness of our project. Hearing and seeing the information in different ways makes sure that we target different types of audiences.

We hope that throughout the website we have educated our viewers on the horrible treatment of individuals who suffer from Schizophrenia in Indonesia. It was our mission to include as many resources as we could in order to give the most well rounded and informative analysis of the issue. We hope that individuals will visit the site and be inspired to do there own research or maybe even contribute to efforts already being made towards this cause.

Evaluating the information

As a collective group we chose the information and how we displayed that information based on what we deemed as the most informative and creative. We wanted our project to be both persuasive and interesting . In order to gain awareness for Schizophrenia in Indonesia we made sure to inform users about all aspects of Schizophrenia and Indonesia. Understanding the basics about mental health is crucial to understanding the basics about schizophrenia. It is also very important for us as researchers and young adults to remember that individuals with schizophrenia are productive and successful members of society. We want to make sure that our videos, news articles, and research studies are portraying mental health in a positive light.

A large part of having credible and informative sources is making sure the information is coming from reputable sites. Since we want our site to have rich sources to back it up we had to make sure that the sources had credible affiliations. In conclusion we believe that although Schizophrenia in Indonesia is still a huge issue that needs to be addresses there are efforts being made to help. There are policies and legislation in the process of becoming official that will drastically change the way mental illness is dealt with in Indonesia.
