Schizophrenia in Indonesia
Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a mental health disorder that is characterized by disturbances in thought, perception, and behavior. There is often a loss in responsiveness and extreme apathy as well as an overall deterioration of daily functioning (Webster, 2001).

Sustainable development goals or SDG’s are objectives that target global health issues we are facing. Although many of the SDGs are applicable to our topic we chose to focus on three, Climate change, good health and well-being, and clean water and sanitation. We thought that it was important to address these three because we feel that they have a direct impact on our issue. Indonesia has a huge issue with the quality of air. There is so much pollution that individuals have to wear masks or even stay inside. Air pollution has been a serious issue in Indonesia for years. Air quality is extremely poor which makes it really hard for citizens to breathe and accomplish daily tasks. According to IMAT “outdoor air pollution. The issue for individuals with mental health is that that don’t have the means to get masks or devices which prevents inhalation of the poor air quality. Individuals who struggle with mental health are often chained up making any type of self-help impossible. There is also a lack of consistent health and well-being throughout the country. There needs to be a change with how individuals are treated who have mental health issues. There are barely any rules and regulations regarding the treatment and care of individuals with mental health which opens the door for miss-treatment and poor care. Finally clean water and sanitation is scarce in Indonesia to being with. With the little basic sanitation and clean water they do have individuals who have mental health are not being given the right to access it. Overall the issue of Schizophrenia in Indonesia is complicated and dense, it involves more than just creating polices to advocate for individuals.
